Overview
The Department of Economics of the University of Ioannina and the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus co-organize the 5th Summer School in Economics in Spetses - Greece. The general objective of the Summer School is to provide a stimulating environment for young researchers seeking advanced training in important disciplines of economics and econometrics. Moreover, it offers the opportunity to all the participants, especially the advanced doctoral students, to present their research and to interact with other students from all over the world, as well as with leading academic scholars.
The 5th Summer School in Advanced Economics will take place from July 3, 2023, to July 7, 2023, at Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses Foundation - Spetses. This year's specialized topic will be "Causal Inference, Potential Outcomes, and Difference-in-Differences estimation," and we are honored to welcome Jeffrey M. Wooldridge as the Distinguished Guest Professor. The Summer School consists of both theoretical sessions (in the form of lectures) and practical sessions. The practical sessions take place in a computer lab. They aim to complement the lectures with empirical applications. The working language is English.

Jeffrey M. Wooldridge is University Distinguished Professor of Economics at Michigan State University - USA, where he has taught since 1991. From 1986 to 1991, Dr. Wooldridge was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his bachelor of arts, with majors in computer science and economics, from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1982, with high distinction in general scholarship. He received his doctorate in economics in 1986 from the University of California, San Diego.His research interests are: Econometrics : Panel Data, Models ; Control Function, Methods ; Economics of Education. He is also Co-Director of Economics of Education Specialization at the Michigan State University. He was in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Economic Literature, Co-Editor of the Econometric Theory and of the Economics Letters, Advisory Editor of the Palgrave Handbook of Econometrics, Associate Editor of the Journal of Econometrics.
